Israeli-Canadian cellist Daniel Hass is the First Prize Gold Medal winner of the 2016 Stulberg International String Competition, as well as the 2016 winner of the Canada Council for the Arts Michael Measures Prize.
A rising talent in the next generation of classical musicians, Mr. Hass made his solo orchestral debut with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at age 15, performing the Lalo Cello Concerto. He has since performed as soloist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, with whom he debuted Jonathan Leshnoff’s cello concerto, and others, and has performed as recitalist and chamber musician in Amsterdam, Lisbon, Tel Aviv, Budapest, and Montreal, and across the United States.
Mr. Hass has been featured several times on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation national radio, and on the American radio show ‘From the Top’.
As a member of the Perlman Music Program Alumni, Daniel has played numerous concerts under the baton of Itzhak Perlman and performed with various chamber music groups. He has participated in master classes with many internationally renowned cellists, including Gary Hoffman, Frans Helmerson, Ralph Kirshbaum, Janos Starker, and Benjamin Zander.
Recently graduated from Juilliard School of Music in New York as a recipient of a Kovner Fellowship, Mr. Hass will be pursuing his Masters at Juilliard in September 2019.
Mr. Hass performs on a 1914 Eugenio Degani Cello on loan to him by a private donor.
Josh Knowles is an electric violinist, singer/songwriter, and composer based in Boston, MA. He brings an eclectic array of influences to his original work, continually striving to fuse his traditional foundation with modern songwriting, experimental studio production, and stunning live performances.
An in-demand and versatile musician, Knowles has featured on albums by The Front Bottoms, John Nolan (Taking Back Sunday), and An Horse, performed on stages for Barack Obama, David Letterman and James Taylor, and frequently collaborates with Cirio Collective and Boston Ballet, with whom he has appeared on stage for historic runs at the Boston Opera House and the Lincoln Center in New York. He currently resides as a Community Luminary at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, where he performs regularly.
In February of 2018, Knowles released "Spin Without A Sound," his debut instrumental album of loop-based ethereal solo electric violin pieces.
In summer 2019 he showcased his songwriting side with debut breakthrough single "Same," which incorporated his signature electric violin tones but also showcased his prowess as a songwriter and vocalist. A unique and cathartic ballad, "Same" has garnered nearly 100,000 plays on Spotify.
In early 2020, Knowles premiered a collection of new original material by performing it live on stage during a 3 night run with Providence Festival Ballet. His powerful experimental song and upcoming single “How Deep the Dark” opened the show, and is part of his album “The Slow Dance is Over” which was released on vinyl in April 2021.
Cameron MacIntosh was born in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Raised in New Jersey, Cam first picked up the sticks at age 9. After taking formal lessons with various teachers in the Jersey area, he heard the great Joe Morello of the Dave Brubeck quartet at age 11. Following an audition, Cameron became the youngest ever student of Morello’s. Joe served as an invaluable role as a teacher and mentor for the next three years.
In high school, MacIntosh trained in the Manhattan School of Music precollege division for two years. He was also a member of the big band at Jazz House in Montclair, NJ, under the artistic direction of Christian McBride. While there, Cam played with icons such as McBride, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Heath, Al Jarreau, and David Sanborn. During this time, he was selected as a member of the 2012 and 2014 GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles, where he recorded at Capitol Records in Los Angeles, played with Chick Corea & Anthony Hamilton, and participated in the Grammy Cultural exchange program in New York City along with a string quartet from China. Cameron was also a three-year member of the Monterey Jazz Festival’s Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, where he toured Japan twice in addition to the west coast and Canada, playing with Ambrose Akinmusire and Joe Lovano. He was also selected as a 2015 YoungArts Finalist, a member of the Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony and Vail Jazz Workshop, where he worked with the great Lewis Nash.
Cameron is now a graduate of The Juilliard School in New York where he was a private student of Kenny Washington and Billy Drummond. He has performed with luminaries such as Wynton Marsalis as well as consistent work as both sideman and leader at various venues in New York and abroad, including The Kennedy Center, Dizzys Club Coca Cola, Smoke, 55 Bar, Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Jazz Standard, Blue Note, Ginny's Supper Club, Shapeshifter Lab, Fat Cat, Monterey Jazz Festival, and Yoshis. In the spring of 2016, Cameron was selected to play for a week at the 41st Annual Bern Jazz Festival in Bern, Switzerland. He was also invited to play in Moscow at the Future of Jazz Festival directed by Igor Butman in October of 2016, which included performances at Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and various clubs. In the summer of 2018, Cameron toured with vocalist Morgan James and played the Victoria and Vancouver Jazz Festivals in British Columbia, Canada, followed by an east coast tour with the same group in the fall, as well as the Vail Dance Festival and Vail Jazz Festival in Colorado. He performs regularly around New York in the Doug Wamble Trio, along with organist Brian Charette. He returned in 2019 to perform at the Vail Dance Festival, also writing music for new ballet by Lauren Lovette. Following this time, he taught and played jazz drums for the tap dance students at the Jacob’s Pillow Summer Dance Intensive. Since last year, he has become a full-time member of Miette Hope’s band, an emerging indie artist in New York. He continues to play regularly on the NYC Jazz and Singer-Songwriter circuit, and will receive his Masters of Music Degree from the Juilliard School in spring of 2020.
Based in Newport, RI, Laden Valley is an indie-folk band fronted by Evan St. Martin and Dave Sarazen.
With songs that oscillate between stripped down acoustic ballads to winding psychedelic improvisations, their sound pays homage to the wide-ranging sonic palette of the 1970s. Centered on tight vocal harmonies and honest songwriting, the band explores the themes of passing time, the excesses of modern life, and the long road to realizing redemption.
