Daniel Hass

Composer/Musician

Award winning Israeli-Canadian cellist and composer Daniel Hass has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across the Unites States, Canada, Europe, Israel, and Jamaica. He is a founding member of the Renaissance String Quartet, a touring contemporary and classical ensemble whose mission is to articulate an inclusive vision of classical music, as well as modern jazz ensembles the Phillip Golub Quintet and Orlando Furioso, winner of the 2023 German Jazz Awards’ Debut Album of the Year.

As a composer, Daniel has received commissions from the Glenn Gould Foundation, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Las Vegas Young Artists Orchestra, and the Revolve Dance Project, among others. His upcoming debut album as a composer, “Love and Levity,” features two full length quartets. As an arranger and session musician, Daniel has worked with singer-songwriters such as Maya Hawke, Caroline Rose, May Rio, and Lila Dupont.

A graduate of the Juilliard School, Daniel plays a beautiful 1730 Franciscus Celoniatus cello on generous loan from the Canada Council for the Arts.
