Laine Habony

Choreographer

Laine Habony is a member of the corps de ballet at New York City Ballet. Born in Dallas, Texas, she began her dance training at the age of three and went on to study with internationally renowned teachers and choreographers. In November 2013, she was named an apprentice with New York City Ballet and joined the corps de ballet the following year. As a student, Ms. Habony was a Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) award winner in Texas and trained at the School of American Ballet, where she participated in numerous lecture demonstrations led by former NYCB soloists Katrina Killian and Jennifer Tinsley-Williams. She has performed in a wide range of repertoire, including works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Alexei Ratmansky, Justin Peck, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, among others, showcasing her versatility across both classical and contemporary styles.

In addition to her performing career, Ms. Habony is an emerging choreographer whose work explores the dynamic interplay between movement and music. She has collaborated with students and professionals nationwide, contributing to a range of innovative projects.

Ms. Habony has created original works for NYCB’s First Steps program (2020 and 2022), the SAB Toulmin Female Choreography Workshop (2023 and 2024), the SAB Summer Course, and SAB’s Annual Workshop in 2025. Her choreographic voice has also been featured at the Ballet Sun Valley Dance Festival and the REVOLVE Dance Project in Providence, Rhode Island. In 2025, she will present a new work on tour with Pointeworks in both New York City and California.

In 2024, Ms. Habony was commissioned to choreograph an award-winning ensemble piece for Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), created for a leading pre-professional ballet company in Texas.
